The "Schlüsselloch" Kapitän sold very poorly in Germany and so Opel discontinued the model after only one year to replace it with the Kapitän PL in 1959. Consequently, there are few of these vehicles around today. I found this one in the same bone yard in Albuquerque as the 1960 wagon and the 1964 DKW Roadster. This car was purchased by a U.S. serviceman in Frankfurt and then shipped to the United States after his overseas assignment - similar to the 1960 wagon which was purchased in Stuttgart and then brought to the US. I need a number of parts for this car (new or used), please check out the pictures below and contact me, if you have any of these parts. The numbers given are Opel part numbers.
When I found the car both front turn signals were missing. In the meantime I have found one, but still need another (12 26 665 or 12 26 666, 12 26 836 and 12 26 790).
I need two of the lower taillight lenses (12 24 326) and at least one of the round lenses (12 24 307).
Both headlights have been replaced with U.S. sealed beams. However, the passenger side light fell victim to a hostile impact and the driver's side trim (12 18 157) is in poor shape. I need at least one complete headlight (12 16 136, 12 16 137, or 12 16 138) - preferably the European type with a removable bulb.
One of the previous owners had mounted an universal trailer hitch - right where the rear license plate light goes. It looks as if I need the whole assembly (12 24 155, 12 24 490, and 12 26 226).
The horn ring has been reduced to a horn button - so I need this one as well (12 42 303). A better steering wheel (12 14 048) would help too.
One the passenger side, the window crank (1 42 363) and the inner door handle (1 36 063) are still intact, but not so on the driver's side. I need one of each.
A few of the "Kapitän" scripts are either missing or in sorry shape. I need one each for the glove box (1 14 415), the right front fender (11 02 735), and the trunk lid (1 76 637 or 1 76 639).

My first six-cylinder. Lots of work, but it very solid and these cars are rare: they did not sell very well and Opel updated the design after only one year.
